Urban Adventure Quest

Have you heard of Urban Adventure Quest? It’s a really novel activity located in 38 cities–and lucky for us, Salt Lake City is one of them!
Using a smart phone, players are given clues which lead them to various locations where different challenges must be solved to get the next clue–these challenges may consist of finding certain details on landmarks, cracking codes, or solving relevant puzzles. Interspersed throughout the game are trivia facts about the landmarks visited.
The Salt Lake City version of the game begins at the Gateway, goes through Temple Square and up to the Capitol, and then ends up back near Temple Square. The entire quest takes approximately 2 1/2-3 hours to complete.
Since my sister and her boyfriend are very familiar with Salt Lake City, my husband and I recruited them to join us and the four of us began the challenge. I was surprised to discover, however, that familiarity with Salt Lake City didn’t give a substantial advantage! We learned a lot despite the fact that all four of us are Utah natives. The game has plenty of information to get you to the correct landmarks even if you’re not familiar with the area, and it serves as a highly entertaining way to become more acquainted with the city and its history. The puzzles are cleverly designed and helped us notice details we hadn’t ever paid attention to. Even though my sister’s boyfriend grew up in Salt Lake City, he learned new things and visited parts of the city he hadn’t seen before. We all had a great time on the Quest and it opened our eyes to more of Salt Lake City’s charm!
So whether you’re a Utah native or you’re less familiar with the area, Urban Adventure Quest is a fun way to learn more about the city.
And if you’re traveling, be sure to check their website to find the locations the game is offered!
This would be a fantastic vacation activity!
